Intelligence built for healthcare, by healthcare
Optum had spent years building AI inside healthcare's most complex systems, yet few people outside the company knew it. As tech companies rushed into healthcare with general-purpose AI, Optum needed to define its AI story before the market did.
But those models don't understand how healthcare works. That knowledge lives in the details. The prior authorization, the denied claim and the doctor's note at 11 p.m. Optum had what training data can't reproduce—experience inside the workflows themselves. That became the brand strategy: "Intelligence built for healthcare, by healthcare."
We took Optum's signature orange and turned it all the way up. OptumAI is Optum at full power. Its models are named after figures from Greek mythology, lending them scale and character. We extended the identity to The Signal, a weekly podcast focused on healthcare AI in production, and Optima ’26, a three-day conference designed to bring payers and providers together to exchange insights.
In a category crowded with demos, OptumAI is built to bring the realities of production into public view.
